My Reflection

I was learning to write narrative.

I thought it was easy because I took two stories and changed them around.

I chose to share my learning by creating a narrative about Cinderella and the three little pigs.

I thought it was hard because when I had to think of problems I didn't have any problems

My next step is to think of problems before I write my story.

I found writing my framework hard because I could't find  any problems in my writing.

I found writing my framework easy because I had my intro perfect I knew what I was going to write.

My next step is to focus more on my problems.

Swimming sharks

Last week Mrs Graham took videos of us swimming

I found Mrs graham  teaching us was easy because I already new how to breath.
I found swimming hard because I couldn't glide that well because my hair is so long and that also slowed me down.
My next step is to kick harder.

Te tuhi

Yesterday Room 29 and I went to te tuhi to learn about collages.

I found making collages hard because we had to cut out pieces of a magazine or calender.

I found this piece of work easy because as soon as we cut a piece out we had to glue it on your piece of paper and I found that really easy and when we had to put the calender over the piece of carbon paper and trace over it.  My next step is to work on my cutting the shapes.

I found this piece of work hard because I didn't know what the title was going to be.

I found this piece of work easy because  I took the start of three little pigs and changed the story up.

My next step is to mix up the story more. 

Term 4 Week 5 Blog Recount

Beep, Beep, Beep That's  the sound of the alarm clock.  I jump out of bed and shout yes it's my cousins birthday party wake up my brother's make them breakfast that they don't like and say ha ha. 

I ask my parents and say can I rap up the presents. I shout out "Jaden" time to rap up the present's it took us for ever to rap up the present's cause my brother brags about my rapping and (I'm not the best present rapper in the world)

After my brother said yes that's okay me and my family went out to lunch we had Denny's and I ordered a blt with fries that was absolutely delicious that was the best blt I have had in my life.


We arrived at there house and give them our present and there rugby ball back cause they left it at our house when they came over.  (SPLASH) that's us jumping in the extremely long and deep pool  we did heaps of races we did the swimming races we did the races in heats some of the best swimmer's in my family were there and they are in the highest group in swimming and so am I so I had a chance of winning and I did.


Dinner time yes! I shout out we are have salad, steak, sausages and hot dogs.
I finished my dinner after i let the dinner settle we  had cake chocolate and strawberry cake.


That was the best relative party I have gone to.  I can not wait to 
the Christmas party at my grandma's granddad's and uncles.

Blog Recount Term 4 Week 4

Fantastic Friday

Last week the year 3 4 5' and 6's  did Fantastic Friday.   The traditional sport group played a  game called tapu wai.

There would be a group that had bibs and the other group is called non-bibs.

The rules of the game is that you had to stay in your boundaries and you are not aloud to talk, push, or kick the ball.

The ref  would  chuck in as many balls you can  use.  There is an attacker who would try to knock down the cone,  the defender would defend the cone,  the rovers have to go get the if it is out of the boundaries and they would have to pass the ball in to the center people and the center people would chuck the ball to the attackers so the attackers can knock down the cone.

Playing the game.  the ref chucked in the the 5 ball's the bibs caught  them all and the all passed it to the attackers and the attackers knocked down the cone no problem so we got a point.  At the end of the game we scored 9 and they scored 7.

I can't wait until next week for Fantastic Friday.

That was the best Fantastic Friday this term.

I don't know what game we are playing next week 

but all I know that the game is going to be fun.

Term 4 Week 3 Blog Recount

On Friday last week the year 4 5's and 6's did athletics.   We went into our age group's starting from 8 to 11.   I went into the 10 year old's. 

The first activity we did was high jump.

There  was a right side and a left side.  We jumped on what ever side you feel comfortable jumping on. Lift your front foot first then lift your back foot and you will jump over the bar.  On the fifth jump I  knocked over the bar. I got so close

The next thing we did was softball  throw. There were some really good throwers in it  I threw A white then some one else threw a white and that was way further then I couldn't throw so I gave up.


Time for sprints on your march get set go. I made it made it made it.Finals I came in seventh place. I got so close I feel really disappointed in my self  maybe I will get better luck next year.


Long jump bounce I did it. Next jumper I'm thinking in my head please don't make it please don't make it. No he did it at least I get   another   jump come on my foot just touched the brown.


Finally the end of the day  that I am exhausted  from athletics day .
I can't wait until next year for athletics day.

I have been learning about Bias and looking at different points of view.  I found this piece of work hard at the start because I did not know what my title was going to be. I found this piece of work  easy because when I came up with a title that I knew about and I got lots of help from a friend. My next step is to work faster and more independently.

I found this piece of work hard because I didn't know how to play Yahtzee and because I didn't know to put it in fractions.

I found this piece of work easy because I got allot of help along the way.

My next step is to focus on my probability and to ask for less help.  

Term 4 week 1 Blog Recount

"AARON WAKE UP ! " Get your gear on you don't want to park at the back do you no I don't want to walk up to the mountain why because I don't want to carry my helmet and snowboard that far.

I hopped in the car and drove up to the mountain.   As soon as we got out of the car the wind started piking up and it felt like it was going to blow me away and I am not joking and I even slipped. OUCH! the ice was as solid as massive rock.  I got all my gear in but my helmet  because I was holding every thing on my shoulders.

It took us forever because we parked at   the very back of the first car park and we could not take the bus because everyone was to lazy and by the time we got ready the bus had already left so we had to walk and walk and walk by the time we got there my legs were saw and my legs felt fully asleep.  I had trouble pushing me and my snowboarding then we sat on the chair lift and went snowboard.


It reached night we were in countdown buying desert  for after dinner by the time we took the ice-cream back to the house the dinner was ready so we walked back to the fish and chips shop and got our dinner and brought it back and ate dinner watched a movie and ate ice-cream.

It's Sunday now last day of snowboarding oh no I didn't snowboard much yesterday so I have to make the most of it today.  I got ready and hopped in the car drove up got ready walked up to the mountain got on the snow buckled the front binding and pushed my self to the chair lift got up to the to snowboarded down to the giant chair hopped on and took it up to the top at the top of the giant chair there were some awesome jumps and rails the rails were quite long so I could slide of at half way of the rail I did a switch 360 on the rail.


Finally it reached the end of the day  me and dad snowboarded down to the  car when we got down to were the car the snow had turned into water and powdery snow so it we really wet and hard to walk threw so then we took all our snow gear of and put on our normal clothes  and shoes got  in the car drove down to the house dad got the vacuum all the mess we made and our cards while I was crossing the road to go to the park while he was tidying up when he had finished that we hopped in the car had lunch and drove home.  That was the best snowboard session in a while.

Tints and shades

I have been learning to tint and shade my colours the darkest colour go's at the bottom the true colour go's in the middle and the lightest colour go's up the top.

I found this piece of work hard because we had to choose how dark it is going to be.
I found this piece of work easy because when we chose how dark it is we could just dip our paint brushes.
My next step is to use less paint.

Term 3 Week 7

Today the year 5 s in room 29 went to the hall to do youth town the sport that we were doing was called hockey.  When we finished dribbling  the hockey ball we played a game called mines in the game called mines if the balls went out of bounds you are out when we got the hang of the game Brad added some more yellow cones in to be the mines and if the balls hit the mines you are out then it was girls v boys and boys won because they are awesome.

Term 3 Week 6

On Tuesday afternoon Mrs Howard was setting up this game called 3 step dodge ball the rules were that if you got out and you know who got you out and they get out you are back in and there are no teams you are only aloud to take 3 steps then you can throw the ball or 2 or 1 step then you can throw the ball and if the ball goes out of bounds you can go out of bounds and get the ball and when you step back in the square that is your first step and then you can go and get some one out and when we started playing people kept on teaming up on other people so then I got the people that were teaming up on other people.

My Haiku Poem

 My Reflection:

I have been learning to write a Haiku Poem. I found this work easy because I knew really well how to describe Winter. I enjoyed this activity because it was fun to think of ideas and it was really challenging which is what I like. I like the idea of writing about a season than anything else. I really hope I can do this activity again sometime soon. My next step is to make a better poem and maybe write about something else.

My Speech

My Reflection
We have been learning to write a speech I found writing my speech hard because I didn't know what to write about.  I found writing my speech easy to write my speech because I knew what to do if I was drowning.  My next step is to memorise my speech so I can focus on my eye contact.

Kaitiaki Art

My Reflction 

My maori god is named TU.  I used cool text to write some adjectives to about my god.  I enjoyed  making this peice of art because it was fun to make and we had to memorise the disghnes that were added on to this art.  I found making this piece of art difficult because I drew my desighns last.  My Next step is to to do my desighns before I add the other stuff.

Hauora work sheet

Term 2 Week 10

Last week on Thursday there was a rotation about Matariki the whole school got into our house groups.

First we got into our groups.  Before the rotation started the teachers told us the groups that we were in. When we went out side we had to find the group number that we were in.

The second thing we did was going to our class the first class that we went to was room 24. When we were in room 24 we did our drawings on our paper hands some of us didn't finish our hands.  

The second class that we went to was room 14.  When we were in room 14 we did a quiz about Matariki after we finished the quiz Mrs Dane gave us stars that we could colour in.  

Then we went to room 29 to do the poi Mrs Melville have us one small poi each when we finished learning the song some of us were using the long poi when we finished using the long poi we performed in front of miss Johnson. 

After the three bells rang we went back to class before we went to lunch we told the class what we were doing for the rotations. Then we went to lunch.

Overall I thought that the matariki rotation was fun I'm looking forward to boing this again next year.

Term 2 Week 9

Last week me and some other people were finishing making our clay.  The first thing that we had to do was to cut our cardboard template.  When I finished cutting out my template I rolled the clay.  After we rolled the clay we were using a stick then we were using water to smooth the edges.

I found the the Place value hard because  I haven't done it in along time.
I found the rounding and compensating easy because the examples looked easy.

Term 2 Week 5

Last week we were learning how to tint and shade the clolours when we started drawing our city landscapes. When I finished drawing my landscape I started painting.  When I started painting we put the lightest colour at the top and the true colour in the middle then the darkest at the bottom.  

Week 3 Term 2

Last week Room 29 went to gymnastics.  When we got to the hall we sat in a circle.  After we sat in the circle we learnt how to fall correctly and we learnt how to jump and land correctly.  After we finished doing the junping and landing Room 29 played some balancing games.  

Term 2 Week 2

Last week rm 28/29 did the Anzac challenge.  The diary entry it was the best activity because it was the  quickest and it was fun.  The art challenge was the hardest because there were hard things to draw.

        My Reflection
This is my Pepeha.  I have been learning to using my pepeha.  We also made some out to display my pepeha.  I found this piece of work hard to color in because it was tiring  and we had to move our hands to color in.  I found this piece of work easy to draw.  My next step is to  do more interisting desighns. 1

T 1 W8

On Monday all the year 5's and some year 4's went to the year 5 morning meeting.  We sang songs  like he honre and Te ha Mouriora.  All the year 5's and 4's have to say there pepeha.

Term 1 Week 7

Last week rm 28 and 29 went to play with youth town.  The group that I was in throwing at the target.  I hit most of the targets.  After the practice round it was the race to see what group gets the target our group kept on coming in second.  When we finished we did a clap on three.

Place Value

I was learning to read numbers up to 1000 and to say which is bigger or smaller.

The thing that helped me more

  was using my basic facts to help with bigger numbers

Term 1 Week 4

Last week Rm 28/29 played capture the flag with youth town.  I was in the non bibs team  I kept on getting the ball and so did the other boys.  The non bibs team won.  I had a awesome time with youth town.

Welcome to my Year 5 learning blog. This year I am in Rm 29/28 and my teachers are Mrs Mellvile and Mrs Graham.  I enjoy doing reading. This year I am looking forward to doing more math.  I hope you enjoy my blog and leave lots of feedback.
